pineapple planters

Here are my attempts to make a pineapple planter (a plant in a pot that is painted so that the whole thing looks like a pineapple – yes that’s a thing and it’s awesome).

I used a pack of three little succulent plants from homebase (~£2 for the three), a cheap plant pot from tkmaxx (left in photo above. ~£1.50), a tea light holder from asda (middle. ~£2) and a candle from homebase (right ~90p – I had to hack the candle out with a kitchen knife) together with some cheap tester pots of paint (~£2 and only used a very tiny amount), gold nail varnish (used for loads of stuff and inexplicably still going strong!), the radio and an afternoon of messing about, trying different patterns. I’m looking forward to the plants growing two to three times larger as I think they will all start to look much more like pineapples at that point.
