There is a plant in my garden whose new leaves arrive in a shocking blaze of pink. This then slowly mellows through white, pale green and finally dark green. It sort of makes its way out from the centre of each leaf. They start off tiny and completely pink then they are light green with pink edges as shown here, and finally settle into dark green with pale edges. Each year, even though I sew many wildflower seeds, no flowers ever seem to grow, so I’m very glad of these colourful leaves.
