pom poms

Making the pom pom for my colourful hat v1 was a bit of a pain. I did it the way I was taught as a kid – cut out two circles of card, cut holes in the middle then feed wool through the hole and wrap round and round, cut and tie. Today I discovered pom pom makers and there’s no going back. They work the same as the cardboard circles but they’re hinged and you wrap the wool around one side first, then the other, then close to make the familiar circle, cut and tie. It sounds like a small thing but is a completely different experience. The pom poms and very quick to make and actually fun. Also they’re very even – the examples shown in the photos haven’t yet been trimmed at all. Need to find more projects that involve pom poms…
