For the last meet up of USK Reading in 2019 we sketched at the Santa run and Forbury Gardens Christmas fair. It was very cold, so frozen fingers all round, but it was clear and dry and there were many Santas and little elves milling around for a good hour so plenty of time to capture some of them on paper.
In the final sketch below you can see a happy Santa crossing the finish line with beard in hand, the mayor with mascots cheering on from a platform on the right, a couple of elves near the Christmas tree and a very festive dog in his red and green coat.
Behind the finish line, in Forbury Gardens, there were rides and stalls and a giant snowman that turned out to be a bouncy castle – you climb inside him through the doors at the front! It was sadly closed while I was drawing him.
